Dwayne Haskins is officially a member of the Washington Redskins. Two weeks to the day after his draft-night slide was ended by the Redskins, the former Ohio State quarterback has signed a four-year contract with Washington that includes a fifth-year option, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Haskins was once considered a potential No. 1 overall pick during the pre-draft process. Even after the Arizona Cardinals zeroed in on Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray at the very top of the draft, most assumed Haskins wouldn't get by the New York Giants at No. 6. Instead, the Giants shocked the football world by making Duke's Daniel Jones the sixth overall pick, causing Haskins to fall to the Redskins at No. 15.

Shortly after being drafted, a frustrated Haskins pledged to prove the many teams that passed on him wrong in the future.

“To be honest, I’m more motivated than ever before. I’ve got a chip on my shoulder,” he said, per ESPN’s Jen Lada. “The league done messed up.”

Haskins’ rise to the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft was nothing short of meteoric.

He threw for 50 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and 4,831 yards while completing a whopping 70 percent of his passes as a first-year starter last season, leading the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record and a win over ninth-ranked Washington in the Rose Bowl. The redshirt sophomore was also at his best when it mattered most, throwing a combined 14 touchdowns and one interception over the Buckeyes’ last three games, including a six-touchdown, zero-pick performance against fourth-ranked Michigan.

Washington, which will be without incumbent starter Alex Smith this season as he continues recovering from injury, traded for veteran signal-caller Case Keenum in March, who disappointed with the Denver Broncos last season. Though coach Jay Gruden insisted before the draft that his team's best quarterback will play regardless of age, experience, or team investment, it's safe to say Keenum will enter training camp with a slight leg up on Haskins to be Washington's starter.
