Adrian Peterson revitalized his career with the Washington Redskins this past season, and he is remaining loyal to the franchise that gave him an opportunity.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Redskins are re-signing the running back to a two-year deal worth $8 million.

Josina Anderson of ESPN initially reported that the back is staying in Washington, saying that Peterson called her and said, “I am going back to the Redskins. It will be a two-year deal. I feel like we made some good moves to get to where we are trying to go.”

Peterson played in all 16 games this past season, marking his first full 16-game campaign since 2015. During that time, he rushed for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns, marking his first 1,000-yard season in four years.

The 33-year-old looked cooked in 2017, when he split the year between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals, finishing with just 529 yards and a couple of scores while averaging a meager 3.4 yards per carry.

Washington then signed Peterson late last August, and he went on to show that he can still run the ball effectively.

Peterson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the seventh overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft.

He spent the first 10 years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, making seven Pro Bowl appearances and earning four First-Team All-Pro selections. He also led the league in rushing three times, including the 2012 campaign when he racked up 2,097 yards.

In addition, Peterson paced the league in rushing touchdowns twice, most notably in 2009 when he reached the end zone 18 times on the ground.
