Washington Football Team's prized recruit in defensive end Chase Young was recently slowed down by a hip flexor injury. The former Ohio State Buckeye missed his fourth practice but was dressed in full pads and worked on the side with athletic trainers instead.

Washington head coach Ron Rivera mentioned his plans on addressing Young's injury:

“We want to make sure before we throw him back out there, so we may be a little bit more cautious than we need to be,” Rivera said. “We want to be smart with him, but we also want to make sure mentally he’s where he needs to be. Emotionally, it’s the same thing because frustration does set in. I’ve seen it with young guys that just want to be out there and showing everybody that he’s worth the second pick of the draft.”

The 21-year old rookie also showed excitement to get back on the field amidst treating his sustained injury. Indeed, he has plenty of things to get excited about heading into the upcoming season. Young is expected to play a major role in Washington's defensive line and instantly contribute to a rebuilding team.

Young is hoping have his prolific collegiate career translate to the professional ranks. His three-year run with the Buckeyes saw him tally a total of 98 tackles, 30.5 sacks, and 9 forced fumbles through 34 games played. He then capped the 2019 college football season with a handful of prestigious awards to his name.

Here's to hoping Chase Young can make it back in time for the team's first game against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 13.
