Last year, future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson went through a bit of a humbling experience after being the face of the Minnesota Vikings franchise for his entire career in the NFL. Peterson landed with the New Orleans Saints in what turned out to be a disappointing short stint and then signed with the Arizona Cardinals for the rest of the season.

Outside of a few impressive performances, Peterson didn't exactly blow anyone away to start his post-Vikings career. Now Peterson remains without a team as a free agent but appears to have another chance to prove he can still play at a high level with the Washington Redskins set to bring him in for a visit, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Along with being one of the greatest running backs in NFL history and quite possible a first-ballot Hall of Famer, Peterson has been a physical specimen and in incredible shape throughout his playing days in the league. That hasn't changed even though has yet to find a new team as he's reportedly in playing shape, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The Redskins headed into the NFL preseason with high hopes on offense due to the arrival of veteran quarterback Alex Smith and rookie running back Derrius Guice. The team considers Smith to be an upgrade over last year's starter in Kirk Cousins while Guice is thought to be a draft-day steal for Washington.

Unfortunately, Guice went down with a torn ACL recently in a preseason game ending his rookie campaign prematurely and forcing the Redskins to look for someone to fill the void in the backfield. Peterson would be an ideal fit if he is indeed in playing shape and ready to go while motivated to prove his worth in Washington.
