The Washington Redskins have ushered in some significant changes to their coaching staff this offseason. It appears the same can start to be said for their roster.

Washington can free up $8.5 million in cap space if they opt to part ways with tight end Jordan Reed. ESPN's John Keim does not see him sticking around for the 2020 NFL season.

Other decisions: Do the Redskins pick up Adrian Peterson's contract for this year (prior belief was yes) and what to do with Jordan Reed (cap savings of 8.5 mil). Hard to imagine him sticking around given his injury history. We'll see.

The prospect of Washington releasing Reed this offseason is not at all far-fetched given his injury history. As a result, he could be among the cap casualties that are on their way out of town.

Reed missed the entire 2019 NFL season while suffering from concussions symptoms. Unfortunately, his track record with head injuries makes it hard to determine whether or not they will continue to linger into the 2020 NFL season. While teammates have been optimistic about his playing future, he still has yet to solidify this notion himself.

There is no question that Reed has plenty of upside with his skill set as a bonafide pass-catcher and his presence would certainly pay huge dividends for quarterback Dwayne Haskins if healthy. Even if he is willing to take a pay cut, the new regime under head coach Ron Rivera would be taking a risk on a player that still has yet to complete a full season entering his eighth year in the NFL.
