LeSean McCoy has been mentioned as a potential trade candidate ahead of the NFL trade deadline this year, especially with the Buffalo Bills entering a rebuilding period. There are quite a few teams that could make sense as a potential landing spot for him, but one intriguing team to watch could be the Washington Redskins.

Bleacher Report mentioned that if the Bills do trade McCoy, the Redskins are one of three teams that would make perfect sense for him. The other two teams were the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles.

Obviously, the article is pure speculation, but the Redskins certainly would be a nice fit for McCoy.

Washington has failed to get their offense clicking on all cylinders. Adrian Peterson has done a solid job as the starting running back with Chris Thompson playing his usual third-down role. Rookie Derrius Guice went down in the preseason with a torn ACL, but is expected to be a major difference maker next season.

Throughout the five games that he has played this season, McCoy has carried the football 61 times for 243 yards. He has not found the end zone yet, but has been picking up his game the last couple of weeks.

At 30 years old, McCoy is currently on a contract that lasts through the end of next season. Washington would be getting a true star in the backfield that could also mentor Guice next season. That would be a win-win scenario for most teams.

Only time will tell if the Bills actually decide to trade McCoy before the trade deadline. Washington will not be the only team with interest in him if he does hit the market, but they certainly would make sense.

Expect to hear more rumors come out of Buffalo in the near future about McCoy. Washington may be content with the roster that they have put together, but adding a piece like McCoy might make them strongly consider pulling the trigger.
