The Washington Redskins are going to be in the market for some help in the secondary this offseason and Ron Rivera could look to add a familiar face. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Washington is expected to pursue James Bradberry in free agency.

Bradberry has spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. In those four seasons, Bradberry has contributed 279 tackles, 47 deflections, and eight interceptions.

Seeing that Bradberry thrived with the Panthers, it would make sense for him to reunite with his former coach in Carolina. Prior to joining the Redskins, Rivera served as the head coach of the Panthers from 2011-2019.

Therefore, he has a few years of experience coaching Bradberry in his secondary. Looking at the Redskins' needs, cornerback is definitely near the top of the list.

Just recently, the Redskins decided to release Josh Norman due to his high price tag for next season. At the same time, Norman wasn't playing at nearly the level that warrants him making an eight-figure salary in 2020.

On the other hand, Bradberry is hoping to become one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL. At only 26-years-old, the former second-round pick wants to seize the opportunity to land a lucrative contract in his first time in free agency.

According to Fowler, Bradberry is looking to command a contract that is worth around $15 million per season. Currently, the highest-paid cornerback in 2020 — in terms of base salary — is Jalen Ramsey at $13.7 million.

Besides the Redskins, there are undoubtedly going to be other cornerback-needy teams that express interest in Bradberry. In the end, the fact that Rivera is the head coach in Washington could ultimately lead Bradberry to join the Redskins this offseason.
