Reggie Jackson could return by late November

Reggie Jackson

After recent news of Reggie Jackson‘s platelet-rich plasma injection treatment, the Detroit Pistons are getting a clearer picture of the timeframe for his absence.

Jackson will likely need four to six weeks to be cleared for basketball activities, slating his return for late November at the earliest and an early December on a more likely note, according to Aaron McMann of MLive.

These are great news for the Pistons, contrary to earlier reports that said Jackson could be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

The 26-year-old averaged 18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game last season, his first of a five-year, $80 million deal he signed with Detroit last summer.

Ish Smith — who signed with the Motor City this offseason — is expected to get the point guard duties and keep the ship afloat until Jackson’s impending return.

Smith is also a drive-and-kick guard, but lacks the consistent shooting ability that Jackson has brought to the team for the past season-and-a-half. The team will likely run the offense through Tobias Harris and Andre Drummond for the duration of Jackson’s recovery.
