The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to engage in one more trade on the day of the draft.

After acquiring the first overall pick in a blockbuster trade with the Celtics, the Sixers are trying to use their assets to acquire one more first round pick in this year's draft. With reports that this draft is one of the deepest ones in years, Philadelphia's desire to have one more selection near the top is understandable.

Per David Aldridge, the Sixers are trying to move into the latter part of the first round by using their early second round selections. However, with the amount of picks left over from trades in the Sam Hinkie era, making a deal is not an issue. The latter stages of the draft will most probably hold the likes of Harry Giles and Ivan Rabb, both highly rated prospects.

The 76ers, of course, own the 1st selection of the draft and will likely select Washington freshman Markelle Fultz. They owned the third selection but gave it up in a trade with the Boston. In that trade, they could lose the Lakers' 2018 first round selection (if it is in the 2-5 range) or the unprotected Kings 2019 pick. Both of those assets were acquired in trades during the Hinkie era.

The Sixers hope that the core of Fultz, Dario Šarić, Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons will reward their fans for their loyalty during years of tanking and lead them toward a better future.

With a good season contingent on Šarić and Embiid recovering from their injuries successfully, Philadelphia will, barring any missteps, have an even better season next year.
