Despite a season in which the Milwaukee Bucks failed to make the playoffs, they are ready to commit long-term to Jason Kidd.

Kidd, who joined the Bucks as head coach prior to the 2014-15 season, isn't going anywhere any time soon according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski:

“The Bucks are moving toward a contract extension with Kidd as coach, league sources said.”

While Kidd has had some early success as a head coach after retiring from a long playing career in the NBA, the decision comes at an odd time. It is true that Kidd maximized the potential of a 2014-15 Bucks team with very little amount of talent. Because of defensive intensity, the squad was able to overachieve and clinch a playoff berth with 41 victories.

However, the team took a clear step back last season as they won just 33 games and finished a lowly 12th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Regardless, the franchise looks committed to Kidd's standing as head coach. They are also bringing in Utah Jazz general manager Justin Zanik as a general manager in waiting to eventually replace current GM, John Hammond.
