The Chicago Bulls have supposedly been open to trade discussions surrounding their star player, Jimmy Butler, over the last couple of months. The former Marquette man has been involved in numerous rumors that had him leaving the Windy City.

Heading into the NBA draft, the Bulls were said to be in talks with Tom Thibodeau’s Minnesota Timberwolves and the Boston Celtics regarding Butler, but discussions broke down when they struggled to agree on the valuation of their franchise player.

It seems as though the discussions are now officially over, as league sources have reportedly told ESPN’s Zach Lowe that Butler is completely off the trade block. This means that Butler will attempt to lead Chicago’s resurgence back into the playoffs, alongside the newly-signed Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo.

With Chicago trading Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks this summer, Butler has a fresh challenge in front of him; becoming the unequivocal leader of the team. Even with Wade’s Hall of Fame career and Rondo’s on-court coaching habits, Butler is the unquestioned leader and will be expected to rise as the face of the franchise.

In the 67 games he played in last year, Butler average 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
