Earlier today, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that Dwyane Wade and his representatives have reached a standstill in negotiations with the Miami Heat. As a result, he's willing to field offers from other teams in free agency.

Apparently, his agents have been quite active in finding those suitors outside of South Beach. In an update to his previous report, Windhorst discussed Wade's camp contacting both the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks to gauge their interest in Dwyane.

From Windhorst on AM 790 The Ticket in Miami:

Over the last 24, 72 hours, Dwyane’s representatives have been calling around the league to several teams. Not to every team, not to 29 teams, but to a few teams and have said to them, “Hey, Dwyane is going to be available and is going to take offers.”

I know San Antonio is one of the teams that’s been contacted. I know Dallas is one of the teams that’s been contacted.

Most pundits doubt that Wade, who has spent his entire career with the Heat, will leave Miami. If the Heat front office really gets what they want, Dwyane actually won't have much of a choice.

Pat Riley has stated that Hassan Whiteside is the team's number one priority, but if they actually are able to intrigue free agent prize Kevin Durant into seriously considering signing there, he'll be the one at the top of their wish list. Landing both Durant and Whiteside would take close to $50 million next season; they currently have $40 million available. They'll need to subtract to make it work, and Wade would be lost in the shuffle.

Of course, the likelihood of just signing Durant, let alone both KD and Whiteside, is quite slim. Still, if Wade does move on, both San Antonio and Dallas provide positive situations with winning cultures for the veteran. He could rest up during the regular season with a minutes limit to ease the pressure on his aging and injury-plagued knees. Then, in the postseason, he could go full throttle.

We'll find out what ultimately happens in just a matter of days.
