According to a report, Oregon State and head football coach Gary Andersen have parted ways.

The report was first broken on the mean streets of Twitter by John Canzano:

Just last week in a press conference, Gary Andersen was talking about his team trying to figure it out.

“They're gaining ground,” Andersen said at his Monday news conference last week. “And as hard as that is to see at this point for them, I believe they're working to gain ground. … But when that takes place? I don't have that. I've done this a bunch of times. It's worked out in a positive way. But right now, it's obviously not where we want to be.”

“You just keep on coaching; you keep on banging,” he said. “Obviously we didn't expect to be in this spot right here. I think it's important that the kids continue to fight and battle. And it's hard for young men to fight and battle. I get it. I understand all those things. But they will.”

Oregon State currently sits with a woeful 1-5 record at the moment. The lone win by the Beavers this season was against the Portland State Vikings, which isn't exactly something to call home about.

Now this his career with Oregon State is finished, Gary Andersen finishes it by winning only seven of the 30 games he coached for the program. He now has an overall coaching record of 52-54.

It will obviously be interesting to see how the program handles this, but don't expect anything but an interim coach to replace him for the time being.
