The Memphis Grizzlies have been on the prowl for a new head coach for about a month, and it finally appears that they have their man.

After interviewing numerous qualified candidates, the Grizzlies have offered Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale their vacant head coaching position, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski. The details of the contract are currently being sorted out.

On Tuesday, Marc Stein of ESPN wrote an article detailing Fizdale leaving a strong impression on Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace. Stein also reported that Fizdale has met with owner Robert Pera.

After working with the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks, Fizdale has been an assistant with the Heat since 2008.

As the Grizzlies organization transitions into a new era, it's going to be crucial for Fizdale to establish a strong, respected presence. He appears to be ready for the challenge.
