Paul Millsap made headlines yesterday and not for the reason Atlanta Hawks fans had hoped.

Millsap was the main subject of an ESPN report suggesting that the Hawks were currently listening to trade offers for the power forward. The report also included Kyle Korver and Thabo Sefolosha in it as well.

Hawks beat reporter Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution attempted to shed more light on the entire situation last night:

They have been – and will continue – to listen about a number of players. I wrote in Sunday’s edition of the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the Hawks were listening on Korver and Sefolosha.

The fact they are listening doesn’t make anything imminent. It doesn’t mean something will ever happen. It may. The talk certainly doesn’t mean that Millsap is gone.

Rumors are rampant this time of year. The Hawks would not be smart if they didn’t talk to teams.

The Hawks are not close to trading Millsap at this point. He clearly has been their best player. It doesn’t make sense right now while the team is still trying to figure out a new roster.

Vivlamore is right about the fact that listening to anything is a lot different than being close to getting something done.

Listening on Korver and Sefolosha doesn't really surprise anyone while Millsap was a bit more of a shock, if only because of the fact, which Vivlamore states, that he has been the team's best player.

The trade deadline is a little over a month away now. More rumors will be coming in and there will surely be more updates on the situation in Atlanta with Millsap and company.
