After two years of waiting, 76ers‘ fans finally have something to look forward to from their 2014 third overall pick, Joel Embiid.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wajnarowski, Embiid has officially been cleared to play 5-on-5 scrimmages after missing two seasons due to severe foot injuries.

There had already been previous reports that Embiid could be back in time to play in the NBA Summer League, but the official clearance to play in a full scrimmage has to be the biggest milestone toward a full recovery that has come in a long time. Up to this point, Embiid had only participated in non-contact practices.

With the expected addition of Ben Simmons, the Sixers look to capitalize on a roster overflowing with potential talent. The question now becomes whether or not they’ll be able to take full advantage of it.
