Free agent shooting guard Justin Holiday has agreed to a two-year, $9 million deal with the Chicago Bulls, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Only a day after his younger brother, Jrue Holiday signed a five-year deal to return to the Big Easy, the New York Knicks didn't make a strong-enough offer to keep the elder Holiday within the confines of the organization.

Aside from the Knicks, Holiday also had received “significant interest” from teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to sources — both teams looking to bolster their outside shooting.

The 28-year-old averaged 7.7 points and 2.7 rebounds through all 82 games for New York, a clear cut prototype of the modern three-and-D wing that most teams are after during this free agency window.

Holiday spent part of his 2015-16 season with the Bulls after being traded in a deal for point man Kirk Hinrich, later traded to the Knicks as part of the Derrick Rose experiment last offseason.

A part of the Golden State Warriors‘ championship team in 2014-15, Holiday provides an athletic presence at the wing with an acumen for drilling open shots when they count the most — a trait that will be of urgent need with the perimeter-starved Bulls rotation.
