Just prior to the start of the 2016 NBA draft, the Sacramento Kings pulled the trigger to obtain an additional pick in the first round.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Kings have traded Marco Belinelli to the Charlotte Hornets for the 22nd overall pick.

Woj also notes that the trade can't officially go through until July 1st, but they have an agreement in principle, and the Kings will make the call on who is selected 22nd by Charlotte.

It was just a year ago that Belinelli signed a three-year deal with Sacramento worth $18 million, but his numbers have slumped with the franchise. He shot just 38.6 percent from the floor and 30.6 percent from three-point land, which is the worst mark of his career.

Hopefully, he'll improve with a fresh start with the Hornets, and the Kings can find a piece who can contribute to their effort to get back to the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
