All is well in La La Land after the Los Angeles Lakers secured their 2017 lottery pick and ended up with the second overall selection in the upcoming draft.

Members of the organization, along with its fans, are all in a joyful mood right now with the prospect of brighter days inching closer for the purple and gold. But in the middle of all the festivities, D’Angelo Russell sits in one corner, pondering on his future — whether it’s with the Lakers or some other team.

According to Jake Fischer of Sports Illustrated, multiple teams are starting to come up with enticing packages to pry away the savvy guard from Magic Johnson’s hands. This development actually makes sense as the top two prospects in this year’s draft play the same position as Russell.

Lonzo Ball and Markelle Fultz offer higher ceilings than the incoming third-year player and opting to keep all of these guards will leave the Lakers with an unnecessary surplus at the backcourt.

D’Angelo Russell won’t have a shortage of suitors, but he doesn’t come without any risk as his maturity, although it has improved, still remains a huge question mark on his resume, as well as his health.
