The Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a two-year deal with hybrid guard Archie Goodwin, after the culmination of his second 10-day contract, according to a report by Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The Kentucky product has had a rollercoaster of a season, starting the 2016-17 campaign with the Phoenix Suns, then waived before the start of the regular season, followed by a short-lived three-game stint with the New Orleans Pelicans — remaining in free agency for most of the year.

Along with Goodwin, the Nets have gotten decent value out of the free agent market this season, adding the likes of Quincy Acy and Spencer Dinwiddie, both scrappy players that can impact the culture of the team.

“[Goodwin] has an enthusiasm for the game, and we need his speed and athleticism,” Nets coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters right as he started his second 10-day deal.

A dynamic and well-rounded guard, Goodwin can easily grow into a solid backup point guard in the Nets rotation, after all, the opportunity is right for the taking. He has averaged 6.6 points and 1.9 assists, while shooting 57.1 percent from the field for the Nets in seven games this season.
