It has been a rough stretch for the L.A. Clippers after losing their eighth straight game in an 102-87 loss to the equally-struggling Charlotte Hornets. Not only do they continue to falter down the final stretch, but they have given up at least 100 points in all but six games so far in the 2017-18 NBA season.

Fortunately, there is a bit of a silver lining to help them finally get back into the win column. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, point guard Patrick Beverley is expected to return to action on Monday versus the New York Knicks:

Beverley will be a welcome sight for the Clippers after missing the last five games with knee soreness. The boisterous guard has proven to be one of the most tenacious defenders in the league. More importantly, he seemed to have immediately slid into a leadership role since coming over in the trade for now-Houston Rockets superstar Chris Paul.

Although he does not bring the same punch on offense like Paul did during his days in Los Angeles, Beverley was putting up a career-high 12.5 points per game before the injury. He also continues to show that same prowess on defense that earned him a spot on the All-Defensive First-Team last year with 1.9 steals per game. While is return is certainly an upgrade, it will not solve all of the issues currently plaguing the Clippers.
