The Houston Rockets and free agent forward/center Nene have hit a snag in contractual talks, going back on a four-year, $15 million offer at the start of the free agency window, which he will re-enter as talks fell apart, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Nene, at the moment, isn't interested in signing the current offer of a three-year, $10.9 million deal, putting the 15-year veteran immediately back in the free agent pool, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. This is due to the Over-38 rule which would have the fourth year of his contract go past his 38th birthday, according to ESPN Insider Bobby Marks.

The Rockets are reportedly optimistic a deal will be worked out between both parties, but the wiggle room for the $4 million drop isn't much to tug away at.

Houston can only sign Nene to a maximum of three years, per the Over-38 rule.
