The Resident Evil Netflix show will apparently use scenes from the video games to complement the show in flashback sequences.

With the show releasing on July 14 in just two months, fans are hungry to know more information about the upcoming Resident Evil Netflix. However, the more information that rolls out from official sources, the more dumbfounded and confused the fans become.

Among the latest information we've gathered comes from an interview reported by Rely on Horror. In this piece, Resident Evil Netflix show's showrunner Andrew Dabb was quoted as to saying:

When asked about Wesker’s past, Dabb says we’ll see flashbacks “to things both from the games and from the game timeline.”

This answers why we've seen glimpses of Doctor Salvador from Resident Evil 4 in some of the trailers released over the past few weeks, but it doesn't answer how that flashback could possibly be relevant to this show, which is supposedly set fifteen years after the events of Resident Evil 4. However, at least we're now sure that the Resident Evil games are canon to this show. What's worrying, though, is how this show will affect the larger continuity and lore of Resident Evil. Hopefully, if the Resident Evil Netflix show does end up flopping and has a very bad story vis-a-vis Resident Evil's larger (comparatively) better story, then hopefully Capcom could still just ignore this show from its canon, just like what they did to the Resident Evil films of old.
