The Mercenaries Mode has always held the adoration of Resident Evil fans. Thankfully, after being absent in the past couple of games, the game mode returns in Resident Evil Village. However, the game mode does not automatically unlock when you first open the game. If you want to start your Mercenary career right away, then we've got you covered.

How to unlock Resident Evil Village Mercenaries Mode

Unlocking Resident Evil Village Mercenaries Mode is easy if a little bit tedious. The game mode will become available as soon as you finish the main story at least once, purchasable from the Extra Content Store for 10 CP. It's not important which game difficulty you play it on. As long as you finish the main story once, you will be able to unlock Mercenaries Mode. Hence, if you're in a hurry and want to play the game mode right away, feel free to start playing on Easy. If you're playing on Hardcore, or worse, Village of Shadows on your first run, then say goodbye to your hopes of playing Mercenaries.

The Mercenaries Mode, for the uninitiated, is a time-trial game mode that tasks you to complete stages in a set amount of time. Traversing between levels will let you upgrade Ethan Winters and his weapons. More challenging levels come later on, which makes managing resources and upgrading your guns important. You receive collection points through Mercenaries Mode, one of the only two ways to collect them. CP will let you unlock cool bonuses in the Extra Content Store like the Resident Evil Village lightsaber called the LZ Answerer.
