Veteran Tennessee Volunteers coach Rick Barnes, ahead of what should be a fun 2019-20 college basketball season, realizes his team is going through a rather sizable roster turnover from one campaign to another.

However, despite losing three key players to the NBA, expectations for the Vols remain high. Furthermore, Barnes believes his squad, which still has plenty of talent, mostly just needs to gain experience to regain its footing.

“They got the taste of what it’s like to be a really good basketball team and being a program people are excited about, and they want to see if they can obviously take it even further,” Rick Barnes said while comparing last season's team to this one.

They know it’s a little bit different because they’ve got so many young guys who’ve never tasted any of that, but (Bowden and Turner) have been great leaders, I will say that. They’ve shown great leadership. Now we just need the experience of playing games.”

With the college basketball season less than two weeks from tipping, the Tennessee Volunteers and Rick Barnes will soon get their chance to start gaining some valuable experience on the hardwood.
