A beautiful Riyad Mahrez free-kick gave Man City the upper hand in a 2-1 victory over PSG in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday.

City struggled in the first period to really break through the Paris backline after conceding a 15th-minute Marquinhos opener. But, the second half was a much different story for the visitors as they scored twice in a span of just seven minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne equalized for Man City just 20 minutes after the halftime whistle, knocking a dangerous ball towards the box which trickled its way past a blindsided Keylor Navas.

Just minutes later, Mahrez curled a terrific spot-kick around the wall into the bottom left corner of the PSG net. A nasty Idrissa Gueye challenge on Ilkay Gundogan saw the referee hand the Senegalese international a red card, which ultimately put the tie to bed for the Parisians. Man City bombarded their oppositions with pressure after they went down to 10 men and frankly should've had another goal, but two proved to be enough.

The Citizens now head back to Manchester with the clear upper hand on away goals. With the defeat, the Parisians have now lost five of their last seven games at the Parc des Princes as their poor form on home soil continues.
