The NFT market has been buzzing recently, with athletes getting involved in promoting NFTs of themselves. Instead of joining in on a platform, Rob Gronkowski is now the first athlete to launch his own NFT collection with special Super Bowl cards.

On Tuesday, Gronkowski announced his entrance into the NFT market, making him the first athlete to push his own collection of items. Gronkowski will be selling four different cards from his four Super Bowl victories, with a fifth card a compilation of the four special moments.

The hand-drawn moments will be sold on OpenSea.io, which is the site that Gronkowski partnered with to make this idea happen. With NBA Top Shot proving to have success with NFTs, Gronkowski thought right now was a perfect time to delve into this world:

“With the rapid success of NFT’s across platforms like NBA Topshop and Opensea, I wanted to take the business into my own hands and be the first professional athlete to launch my own NFT collection. Now fans will be able to get a piece of the action and share these iconic Super Bowl moments with me in this all new digital format with my Championship Series NFT.”

Four of the five moments that Gronkowski is releasing will only have 87 moments minted due to the number he has worn his entire career. The fifth and final compilation moment will be auctioned on March 11 — along with the rest of the moments — and only has one of them made.

Whoever the highest bidder is for the one-of-one moment will get the NFT and an opportunity to meet Gronkowski, then attend a game as his guest. The popularity of NFTs is rapidly growing, and Rob Gronkowski is trying to incite other athletes to follow in his footsteps to create a trend.
