Robert Griffin III started the regular season opener for the Cleveland Browns. He struggled against the Eagles and was unable to show any sign of his old self during the game.

RGIII finished with just 190 passing yards and 37 rushing yards while suffering a tough defeat to Philly. Even worse news for Robert Griffin and the Browns came after the game when they learned that their quarterback had possibly suffered a serious shoulder injury.

Unfortunately, their fears became reality yesterday:

Because he was placed on the injured reserve, Griffin will not be able to return for at least eight weeks. This is terrible news for a Browns team that did not look good in their first game.

Given that RGIII is out for at least eight weeks, there is a possibility that he won't be kept on the team. We'll see what the Browns end up doing, but what we can say with confidence now is that it's not the beginning to the season that Cleveland was envisioning.
