Unemployed quarterback Robert Griffin III hasn't made his burning desire to return to the NFL a secret. Another thing he didn’t keep to himself is the fact that he was apparently offered two NFL contracts this year and rejected both.

In an appearance on ESPN’s SC60, the former Heisman Trophy winner revealed that the Arizona Cardinals and the Baltimore Ravens put offers placed on his table, but Griffin decided to reject both due to varying reasons, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“I had an offer from Arizona, and also from Baltimore,” Griffin said on ESPN’s SC6.

According to Griffin, he turned down the Cardinals' offer because Arizona had a glut of quarterbacks, which he felt would limit the amount of time he'd practice as a fourth-stringer. As for Baltimore’s offer, Griffin didn’t accept the deal because it came just ahead of the team’s preseason opener, leaving him little time to prepare.

Griffin, who was drafted second overall by the Washington Redskins back in 2012, played four seasons in the nation’s capital before the Redskins cut him in 2016. He later hooked up with the Cleveland Browns, but due to a shoulder injury, he was only able to play five games (all starts) in 2016. The Browns released Griffin last March.

Griffin is aware that he might not get another contract offer after turning down Arizona and Baltimore, but RGIII conveyed that he’s at peace with the thought of not playing pro football ever again.

“I had interest in the offseason,” Griffin said. “It just wasn’t the right fit and I had to make that decision for myself to say, ‘Look, if I don’t accept this offer, there’s a chance I won’t play football this year.’ And I would talk to my family, and I was OK with that, OK with the fact that it might happen.”

Griffin has 8,983 passing yards for 42 touchdowns against 26 interceptions in his career. The dual-threat quarterback also has 1,670 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
