Although it seems like the Houston Rockets and head coach Mike D’Antoni will be coming to an agreement on an extension sometime this offseason, some other Rockets staff members are moving on from the team.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Rockets assistant coach Roy Rogers and the team have mutually agreed to part ways. This is the second assistant coach that the team has parted ways with this week, after defensive assistant Jeff Bzdelik was let go.

After initially joining the staff in 2016, Rogers became known as someone who handled the defensive aspects of the Rockets, along with Bzdelik. Of course, the parting of ways with both coaches could signify that the Rockets are looking to improve their defense in the coming years, as that has been the aspect of the team that has usually held them back in the past.

Despite their loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 playoffs, things seem to be moving along normally for the Rockets. Not only will they likely be bringing back a majority of players from this season, but D’Antoni and a large portion of his staff seem to be returning as well, which should create some much-needed stability throughout the team.Rockets news: Houston assistant coach Roy Rogers parts ways with the team

With a chaotic NBA offseason on the horizon, it will be interesting to see if the Rockets can bring in any new coaches to help shake things up, and potentially get the team on a path that leads them out of the Western Conference and back to the NBA Finals.
