The Houston Rockets suffered yet another defeat on Saturday, following a successful come-from-behind effort by the Dallas Mavericks. After the 107-104 loss, Rockets star Chris Paul shared his thoughts on the ballgame, and pointed out a few things he felt he could have done differently.

“The first thing I'd like to do different is make my free throws,” said Paul, via ESPN. “I think that's where, honestly, it ticked the game off. We were up two. Throws would have put us up four. They hit some step-backs.”

Paul had a good outing on Saturday, putting up 23 points (on 10-of-20 shooting), three three-pointers,  two rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and two turnovers in 38 minutes of action. However, as he described, he missed both of only two attempts from the charity stripe. Unfortunately for the Rockets, it happened at a critical junction in the ballgame.

Mavs rookie Luka Doncic was the star of the evening, scoring 11 straight points in the dying minutes of the fourth to singlehandedly wipe out Houston's eight-point lead.

The loss against their Southwest rivals stings a little bit more for the Rockets, who are now on a three-game losing skid. The team are now at 11-14, and have fallen all the way to the second to the last spot in the Western Conference. Only the Phoenix Suns — who are currently at the very bottom of the league at 4-22 — have a worse record than the Rockets at this point.

The Rockets' next two matchups are home games, as they host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, followed by a meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. It's still early in the season, but it is undeniable that these two games will be crucial for Houston as they look to get back to winning ways.
