The Houston Rockets have announced that All-Star point guard Chris Paul will return from his 14-game absence on Thursday night against the Phoenix Suns.
The 32-year-old touched upon the topic on Wednesday afternoon by stating that he believes his return to the Rockets could further elevate them among the elite teams in the league, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26.

In Paul's absence, the Rockets boast the second-best record in the Western Conference just a 1/2 game behind the Golden State Warriors. All-Star guard Jame Harden has been leading the charge, currently ranking second in the league with 30.7 points per game while dishing out an NBA best 10.3 assists per contest. On top of that, he is averaging 36.1 points over the last seven games.
Paul's return to the team brings another intriguing dynamic for a team that already ranks third in the league at 111.2 points per game. His presence on the floor should help immediately further boost the offensive efficiency while providing another premier scorer to the mix.
Head coach Mike D'Antoni will likely continue to employ the strategy of putting both players on the floor at separate times in order to allow them to be the primary ball handlers and distributors for their respective units. It will be interesting to see how this dynamic will unfold and work out over the rest of the season.
