The Houston Rockets are in a slump, having lost all of their last five games. Hopefully for the Rockets, a return to action by center Clint Capela could spark a turnaround for the 25-9 Houston team that is suddenly struggling to win games. According to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni said that Capela is set to play on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers at home.

Capela has missed the Rockets’ last two outings due to a right orbital fracture he sustained in a loss at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder last Monday. Houston severely missed the Capela’s rim protection during his absence, as the Rockets allowed an average of 51.0 points in the paint in their pair of losses to the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Capela is averaging 14.2 points and leads the Rockets in rebounds (11.2) and blocks (1.8) per game. When he’s on the floor, opposing teams shoot 2.0 percent worse on attempts taken within six feet of the basket.
Capela’s return would also mean a return to near irrelevancy for the pair of Tarik Black and Nene, who both got a nice bump in minutes during Capela’s brief absence.
