Daryl Morey shares bold expectation for Rockets in NBA restart
The Houston Rockets lost a bit of steam prior to the suspension of the 2019-20 campaign, but general manager Daryl Morey believes his team is still primed to win it all once the season resumes on July 30.
The 47-year-old outspoken executive appeared on FOX Sports’ First Things First on Friday and made his thoughts known.
“We’ve seen real pressure in the world right now and thankfully some material changes are being made. Basketball pressure wise, it’s a lot. 2 of the greatest players ever on our team, we should win this thing,” the Rockets exec bared.

With superstar James Harden leading the way, the Rockets asserted their dominance early in the highly-competitive Western Conference.
However, once the other teams got their bearings, Houston got left behind quite a bit. They are currently tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for fifth and sixth place with a 40-24 slate.
Five teams out of the playoff picture in the West are still in contention, and the Rockets will need to shift to an even higher gear to solidify their spot.
Daryl Morey, meanwhile, is certainly confident with his team, especially with the explosive backcourt pairing of James Harden and Russell Westbrook. The Beard is once again in consideration for the MVP plum, leading the league in scoring at 34.4 points per game on 43.5 percent shooting from the field and 35.2 percent from downtown.
Westbrook, on the other hand, shrugged off a slow start in his first year in H-Town and is now well-acclimated under Mike D’Antoni’s system. The 6-foot-3 point guard was averaging 27.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.7 steals before the suspension of the season.
