At the moment, the Los Angeles Clippers — led by the newly-formed dynamic duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard — appear to be the favorites to win the title in the upcoming season. However, in the mind of at least one unnamed Eastern Conference team executive, the Houston Rockets might have a thing or two to say about that.

In an article by Tim Bontemps for ESPN, the anonymous exec explains why he believes we should not sleep on James Harden and Russell Westbrook in Houston.

“They have two of the last three MVPs,” an Eastern Conference executive said. “One is in his prime, the other just averaged a triple-double for a third straight year. I'm making a point because they're somehow being overlooked.”

It's hard to argue against his point here. Harden and Westbrook are without question two of the best players we have in the game today, and these two sharing the same backcourt is indeed a mouthwatering prospect. Moreover, not only do the Rockets have a great coach in Mike D'Antoni, but they also have an amazing supporting cast with the likes of Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, and Clint Capela all still in the picture.

Aside from the Clippers and maybe two or three other teams with legitimate championship aspirations, the only thing that might stand in the way of the Rockets and their dream to lift the title would probably their own selves. It's hard to imagine how Harden and Westbrook — the two highest usage guys in the NBA today — will co-exist, but if they are able to figure this out, then surely, the sky is the limit for this revamped Houston side.
