Houston Rockets swingman Gerald Green is out with an injury, but he remains confident that it won't be long before he returns back to his usual self.
The Rockets expect him to return either Wednesday or Friday from a strained adductor — an injury he sustained in a pregame warm-up and has kept him out of the last five games. Despite the setback, the 33-year-old remains optimistic given what he did last season.
“You have to understand,” Green said, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. “I came off the couch last year. It won't take me long to adjust.”
He added that he's been doing workouts and is feeling good. He's not yet at a hundred percent, but he's also not rushing his return.
“It's important for me, but I've been working,” Green said. “I do feel good. I've been doing workouts. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm still where I need to be to perform at a high level. Hopefully, (Wednesday) I'll feel great. If not, it's day-by-day at this point.”
To recall, the Rockets picked up Gerald Green in December 2017. He quickly became an asset as a tough player with matching 3-point shooting ability to boot. After his good showing, the Rockets re-signed him in July 2018.
With the playoffs just around the corner, expect the Rockets to monitor Green's health closely. He's been an intrinsic part of their success for the past two seasons. A Green-less Rockets team is a different team altogether.
