Rockets news: GM Daryl Morey gets fined frequently
The Houston Rockets look poised to become the Golden State Warriors’ biggest threat in the Western Conference. The Rockets were able to trade for superstar point guard Chris Paul early in the offseason while also adding quality players like P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah a Moute.
Houston general manager Daryl Morey deserves plenty of credit for assembling a roster that looks like it can compete with Golden State. Morey is one of the league’s most aggressive general mangers when it comes to making deals and it showed when he executed the trade that brought Paul over from the Los Angeles Clippers.
However, Morey is also known for making comments that can land him in trouble with the NBA and in an appearance on the Woj Pod, Zach Lowe revealed the general manager has been fined on multiple occasions as transcribed by Dan Feldman of NBC Sports:
Daryl gets fined so much more than has ever been publicly reported. Daryl is fined all the time.
This is not surprising given some of the things Morey has said over the years, but it does beg the question as to how much he has accumulated in fines over the years. The league does not always release statements when fines have been handed out, so it also leaves fans wondering what else Morey has been previously fined for.
Regardless, the Rockets are in good shape heading into the 2017-2018 NBA season. A dynamic backcourt tandem of Paul and James Harden flanked by several versatile swingmen should make them one of the most difficult teams to play and an instant title contender.
