The Houston Rockets already have one of the best offenses in the NBA this 2019-20; however, they are not satisfied with just being No.2.

Now, according to general manager Daryl Morey, Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni has a plan to catapult the team's offense to the next level.

“At the end of the day, it’s about getting to an efficient, great offense,” Morey said of the Rockets, via Ben DuBose of USA Today Sports. “We’re already the second-best offense, but we can make that better, I think. We can easily be first throughout the playoffs.

“Coach has put in a new offensive set, which will be interesting. I think Coach will still go into the main skillsets of our players. It’s more just a wrinkle. As usual with Mike , it’s simple stuff that’s very hard to stop.”

For the record, the Dallas Mavericks currently have the best offensive rating in the entire league at 115.8, with the Rockets a not so distant second at 113.4.

Even Morey himself does not seem to be aware of the details of D'Antoni's new offensive sets, but it is clear that the high-ranking Rockets executive has his complete trust and confidence in the veteran coach.

It is worth noting, however, that the Rockets might need to prepare for the eventuality of Russell Westbrook missing the team's opening game(s). The former MVP recently tested positive for COVID-19, and he is currently self-isolating outside the Orlando Bubble. He is expected to rejoin his squad as soon as he gets the medical clearance, but at this point, it's anybody's guess when that will be.
