Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta has released a statement regarding their acquisition of Russell Westbrook via trade.

Per Mark Berman of Fox 26, Fertitta expressed his excitement and praised Westbrook for his athleticism. Also, he thanked Chris Paul for his services to the franchise.

Westbrook will be rejoining forces with James Harden who was his teammate in the Oklahoma City Thunder for three years. Back then, both of them were on their way to becoming superstars. They even went all the way to the NBA Finals in 2012 but were ousted by the Miami Heat in five games.

After Harden went to the Rockets, he quickly established himself as one of the game's most potent scorer. Along the way, he won his first MVP trophy. Westbrook, too, developed into one of the game's most lethal all-around guards. He averaged a triple-double for three consecutive seasons and won an MVP trophy as well. Now, at the peak of the primes, Westbrook and Harden will join forces yet again.

Paul, who helped the Rockets become a contender over the past two years, will be joining the seemingly rebuilding Thunder squad. In his two years with the Rockets, he co-existed well with Harden and adjusted relatively well to the Beard's playing style and Mike D'Antoni's coaching philosophy. Yet after another early playoff exit, things reportedly turned shabby between Paul and Harden.
