Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta says the organization would love to have Jimmy Butler on the team, but is not willing to give up unreasonable assets to acquire the four-time All-Star. Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves and has no intention of returning to the club this season.
The Rockets are among the reported teams who have spoken to Minnesota regarding a Butler trade. The 29-year-old still prefers to be traded to the Miami Heat, but at this point, Butler is just trying to get off the Timberwolves as soon as possible.

Fertitta is going to regret these comments. This is tampering at its finest right here. Under NBA tampering rules, no player, coach or management person may entice or induce a player under contract with another team to play for his team, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. In the end, it will be up to NBA commissioner Adam Silver to determine if these comments are indeed tampering and a fine is necessary.
The Rockets are reportedly making a strong effort to acquire Jimmy Butler, who averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game last season. Butler shot 47.4 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the 3-point line, and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line. His relationship with big man Karl-Anthony Towns is reportedly unfixable. The swingman also doesn't respect the work ethic of Andrew Wiggins.
