In Game 1 of the Western Semifinals, the Houston Rockets took a total of 47 3-pointers compared to just 22 attempts by the Golden State Warriors.
All in all, the Rockets shot 29.8 percent from downtown while the Warriors shot 31.8. percent. This is not a surprising statistic, especially to those who are familiar with their style of play.
Rockets took 25 more 3s today than the Warriors. Curious to see if the discrepancy remains thaaaaaaaaat wide as this series pushes forward.

In the regular season, they took 45.3 3-point attempts per game (league leader) and shot 35.6 percent. In the playoffs so far, they take 42.2 attempts from downtown and shoot 36.5 percent. And as they play more games, perhaps we can expect them to throw up more shots from beyond the arc.
But some analysts believe that this might lead to the Rockets' demise once again. To recall, the Rockets and the Warriors dueled in the Western Conference Finals last year. Many believed that the Rockets were going to be the team to eliminate the champions. But in Game 7, the Mike D'Antoni-led squad shot at a horrendous 15.9 percent from the 3-point area or 7-of-44.
This quickly led to further criticism of D'Antoni's offense. It was clear throughout Game 7 that the Rockets were struggling from the field. Yet they still jacked up 3-pointers until the final few minutes.
Will the Rockets change their strategy this time around? Or will D'Antoni insist that they stick to their true identity with a strong belief that the shots will go down eventually?
