The Houston Rockets have trimmed their roster in preparation for the regular season, waiving both Deyonta Davis and Chris Chiozza. Alykhan Bijani of The Athletic broke the news via Twitter:

Deyonta Davis is the former 31st pick in the 2016 draft. Coming out of Michigan State, he was predicted to be selected as a lottery pick by most pundits. Instead, the Celtics selected him as the first pick in the second round. The Celtics immediately swapped him to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Davis played two seasons for the Grizzlies before moving to the Atlanta Hawks. In three seasons in the league, the big man has career averages of 4.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks per game. He played a total of 107 NBA games.

Chris Chiozza had a much different path to the NBA. The guard went undrafted in the 2018 draft before being picked up as a training camp invitee for the Washington Wizards.

After a year in the Wizards G League, Chiozza moved on to the Rockets. He played seven games for the team but was unable to impress. Chiozza holds career averages of 0.9 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. However, Chiozza did receive an invite from Team USA to join their training camp roster for the upcoming FIBA tournament.

We'll have to wait to see if any other NBA teams wants to take a flyer on Davis or Chiozza, or the players decide to return for another G League stint.
