James Harden has had a chance to look back on his 2018-19 season and even he can't help but be in awe of what he did.
In an interview with Alex Schultz of GQ, the Houston Rockets superstar claims that while his greatest rival to the MVP award, eventual winner Giannis Antetokounmpo, had a magnificent season, the things he did, the numbers he put up throughout his epic season is right up there with the legendary seasons of legends in the past.
Numbers-wise, Harden isn't lying. In 78 games, Harden averaged an insane 36.1 points per game – nearly a six-point jump from his output in his 2017-18 MVP season.
Harden also had an insane 34-game streak of scoring 30 or more points, spanning from early December to late February. In that unbelievable run, the 2018-19 MVP runner-up 40.6 points per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from deep. That stretch included a January wherein he averaged an even more mind-boggling 43.6 points per game on 43 percent field goald shooting and 35.5 percent three-point shooting.
Those stats weren't empty either. They actually helped the Rockets recover from an early season slump that saw them fall to 14-14 through the first two months of the season. Those numbers were necessary with the numerous injuries the Rockets were dealing with throughout the season.
