The Houston Rockets will experience a seamless transition into the age of Carmelo Anthony. That’s coming straight from the mouth of reigning NBA Most Valuable Player James Harden, who tells The Players' Tribune that there’s not going to be any problem in Anthony’s assimilation with the Rockets.

“Coming off an MVP season, now you got to add Carmelo Anthony, it's going to be easy. The transition is easy. When you got that many talented, high-IQ guys around who love to communicate and love to figure things out, the job is easy.”
Harden has no choice but to keep everything he said diplomatic and positive about Anthony, though, he seemed to be legitimately thrilled over the inclusion of the 10-time All-Star in the team’s roster during the interview. Harden was speaking about Anthony’s fit with the team, so the worst thing he could do was sound critical and dicey about the subject.
Anthony signed a one-year contract worth $2.4 million with Houston after getting his 2018-19 salary bought out by the Atlanta Hawks. Prior to that, he was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-way deal that also involved the Philadelphia 76ers.
Anthony is expected to replace the value the Rockets lost when forwards Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute decided to take their talents to the Phoenix Suns and the L.A. Clippers, respectively, this offseason.
Last year, Anthony and the Thunder had trouble finding themselves on the same page and it went on until the playoffs, where the team crashed and burned in the first round against the Utah Jazz.
The Rockets took the Golden State Warriors to the hill before losing in Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals. The intrigue for Houston now lies in whether it could surpass what they accomplished last season or regress with Anthony in tow.
Carmelo Anthony averaged just 16.2 points on 40.7 percent shooting from the field last season.
