The Houston Rockets are fully committed to James Harden, and he is just as committed to win a championship with the Rockets. His connection to the city, however, has grown stronger over the last few years. The devastating events that took place as a result of Hurricane Harvey seem to have only strengthened Harden's bond with the city of Houston. On Saturday, Harden pledged to donate one million dollars to victims of the hurricane, and it was received with must respect from his NBA peers as well as fans around the world.
One fan took to Twitter to tell Harden, “Never ever ever ever ever leave Houston,” and the shooting guard-turned-point guard took notice of it, responding by saying that he promises not to leave with the hashtag ‘Rocket4life.'

Since been traded to the Rockets in 2012, Harden has gotten better every single year and could have easily won the 2017 MVP award had it not been for Thunder guard Russell Westbrook's absolutely historic triple-double average regular season. He finished the season averaging career-highs across the board with 29.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 11.2 assists per game. Harden even had a pair of 50-point triple double games, including a monstrous 53-point, 16-rebound, 17-assist performance in a victory over the New York Knicks.
If Harden's commitment has ever been questioned, you'd have to look no further than his sealed future with the team. He signed a four-year, $118 million max extension with the Rockets in the summer of 2016, and then inked the Designated Veteran Player Extension this past summer, which was a four-year, $169 million contract, and that has the MVP candidate signed with the Rockets through the 2022-23 season.
