James Harden, Russell Westbrook react to Eric Gordon injury
Injured Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon knows he’s got his teammates to back him up no matter the situation. Fellow Rockets stars James Harden and Russell Westbrook have shown their support for Gordon’s recovery and reassured fans that they are still on top of their game.
The 6-foot-3 Rockets star, who has been ailing a knee injury in the past months, accidentally stepped on the foot of Celtics big man Vincent Poirier as he passed the ball to a teammate.

It’s the sort of incident that would affirm some of the fears analysts have thrown onto the bubble-idea. Almost four months of little to no training for athletes may be dangerous, but as with Gordon’s case, stepping on someone else’s foot isn’t exactly uncommon for the sport.
Fellow Rockets guard Harden is confident in their team’s experience in playing with their backs against the wall. In an interview for The Athletic he is quoted:
“Of course Eric is a huge part of what we’re doing… Hopefully he can get his ankle healed as soon as possible. But we’ve played with adversity all year. It’s another opportunity for us to step up.” said the 2018 NBA MVP.
Russell Westbrook shared the same sentiments.
“Hopefully yea but we’ll wait and see what happens… We got a lot of guys that’ll be ready to go when their name is called so we’ll definitely be prepared.”
Experts believe Gordon’s injury is simply a sprain and may only last one or two weeks. But that would mean missing their season restart against the Mavericks and succeeding games against the Blazers, Bucks, and Lakers. Gordon has already shown promising play-off performances in his past seasons, his recovery will definitely crucial in the Rockets’ bid for the crown. I wouldn’t count out Harden and Westbrook’s reassurances though.
