Thanks in large part to a 61-point scoring outburst from James Harden, the Houston Rockets managed to walk away from Wednesday night's game against the New York Knicks with a 114-110 victory. Harden isn't the only player that has lit up the scoreboard inside Madison Square Garden, however. In fact, exactly five years prior, Carmelo Anthony dropped 62 in a game against Charlotte.

Melo's 62 big ones were a career-high and franchise record. They were also the most points scored inside Madison Square Garden.

“I was just taking it one possession at a time,” Anthony told MSG Network in a post-game interview. “I came into the game locked in. I didn't know I was going to have this type of performance. It's an unbelievable feeling. … It's just a zone you get into sometimes. Only a certain group of people know what that zone feels like. Tonight was one of those zones. My teammates saw that.”

Anthony's 62 points passed Bernard King for a Knicks franchise record — a mark that still stands to this day. King, who's was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013, put up 60 points against the Nets on Dec. 25, 1984. Melo also broke Kobe Bryant's Madison Square Garden record of 61 points, which was set on Feb. 2, 2009.

“It didn't really sink in exactly what I did tonight,” Anthony told MSG. “I know Bernard King is somewhere smiling at me right now.”

Harden's 61-point performance is now tied with Bryant's for the most by an opposing player inside the current MSG.

“The Beard,” as Harden is known, logged 40 minutes, scoring 61 points on 17-of-38 shooting from the field (5-of-20 from beyond the arc and 22-of25 from the free throw line), 15 rebounds, four assists and five steals.

“In the Garden, I'll take it,” Harden told ESPN after Wednesday's game.
