After winning six straight games, the Houston Rockets have now lost four of their past five assignments, three of which were brutal blowouts by over 20 points each. Rockets guard John Wall and forward PJ Tucker easily pointed out their problem as of late.

First, it was Wall who had a profanity-laced comment about why the Rockets are playing so poorly (via Kelly Iko of The Athletic).

“When we were on that six, seven-game winning streak, we drank some of that water that we shouldn’t have. Our defense has been s****y the last couple games.”

Before the losing skid, the Rockets had one of the best defenses in the NBA. They still had the second-best defensive rating at 106.7 heading into Tuesday's action. But after giving up 130 points to the New Orleans Pelicans, that number will definitely go down, and PJ Tucker is having none of it, echoing Wall's comment.

“Our defense has been s****y the last two games.”

Prior to being dismantled by the Pelicans, the Rockets fell by 25 points against the Charlotte Hornets. Before that, they lost a close one to the San Antonio Spurs, but the game that started them on their defensive decline was a 104-87 drubbing at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Rockets have a fairly solid defensive roster, though Wall is not a dominant force on that end, nor is starting center Christian Wood.

John Wall, PJ Tucker, and the rest of the Rockets hope they can arrest their issues on the defensive end soon and improve on their middling 11-13 record.
