Houston Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni says superstar shooting guard James Harden has taken his floater game to another level this season.

Harden didn't always have that shot in his arsenal, but the reigning MVP has worked on the floater and it's now another tool he uses to drive opposing defenses crazy.

“Well, the growth is on the floaters,” D'Antoni told Sam Amick of The Athletic. “(Harden) hits at a higher percentage – last year it was like 40 percent, and this year he’s taking almost 30 percent more and it’s 48 percent (accuracy). So he’s up there.

“We don’t love that shot, but that’s how they kind of – if that’s what he’s got (from the defense), that’s what he’s got. So he has upped that. And then his stepback (three), he can get 16 threes off anytime he wants it. It’s just a matter of when he wants it. And you can’t do anything about it.”

James Harden has established himself as one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, and Mike D'Antoni is just enjoying watching The Beard go to work every night.

This season for the Rockets, Harden is averaging a league-leading 36.4 points per game. The seven-time All-Star is shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and 87.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Harden has scored 61 points twice this season. He's scored over 50 points nine times. So whether it's the floater, the mid-range jumper or his patented step-back 3-pointer, Harden is a scoring machine comparable to the likes of Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
