The Houston Rockets are facing off with the Golden State Warriors on Christmas and it will be the first time they will have played at the Chase Center in downtown San Francisco.

When asked about playing the Warriors on Christmas, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni mentioned that playing at the Chase Center is “completely different” than playing at Oracle Arena. Moreover, he mentioned that there is “no nostalgia” from Houston’s perspective.

“It’s completely different, different building, different team so there’s really no nostalgia on our side,” D’Antoni said, via Wes Goldberg of The Mercury News. “We don’t want to go back to those days, but it’s a new adventure.”

It’s not a change of venue that makes the Rockets’ matchup with the Warriors have a different feel to it. Not having the iconic cast of characters like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and even Kevin Durant changes the situation. No longer is Golden State a superteam. Instead, they enter this game with a 7-24 record.

Houston has both of their star players healthy, and James Harden is at the height of his powers. He is averaging 38.6 points (league-best), 5.8 rebounds and 7.4 assists. His output of 1.115 points per possession on scoring plays is the best among all 26 players with at least 600 possessions.

The Rockets are in the opposite position as a franchise than the Warriors right now. Houston held a 21-9 prior to this matchup and trail only the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference standings.
